INVESTMENT RESIDENCY PROGRAM (Residency by Investment)
Immigration Policy
The Spanish government in 2013 enacted a new immigration law allowing non-EU citizens to obtain residence permits via investment. Later in 2015, the Spanish government renewed the Immigration Act to allow three generations of a family to apply. The applicant is required to invest in real estate worth a minimum of €500,000. Qualifying properties can be residential, commercial, industrial, or agricultural land.
Application Requirements
Main Applicant:
Aged 18 years and above
Non-EU and non-EEA (European Economic Area) citizen
Purchase personal health insurance
No criminal history
Purchase a property worth at least €500,000
Dependant Applicants:
The legal spouse of the main applicant
Children under 18 years of age
Children above 18 years of age who are unmarried, studying, and financially dependent on the main applicant
Dependant parents of the applicant or of their spouse
Residence Requirements
The Investor Visa is valid for one year. The foreign investor can then apply for a residence permit which is valid for 2 years and renewable for 5-year periods upon residing in Spain for a minimum period of 183 days in a year or at least 50 months within 5 years.
Application for Spanish citizenship is allowed after 10 years.
